NCC and BMA join forces to block counterfeit and unsafe goods at South Africa's borders

The National Consumer Commission and the Border Management Authority are joining forces to tackle the growing threat of counterfeit and illicit goods in South Africa, aiming to protect consumers and strengthen the economy

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has joined forces with the Border Management Authority (BMA) to strengthen efforts to prevent unsafe, counterfeit and illicit goods from entering South Africa through the country's ports of entry.

This comes after the two entities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in May to work together on inspections, enforcement operations and information sharing to protect consumers from unsafe and non-compliant products.

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has joined forces with the Border Management Authority (BMA)

The MoU also provides for the monitoring of imports through e-commerce, courier and postal services. The two authorities will work together to identify and stop unsafe and illicit products before they reach consumers.
