New Zealand Member of Parliament Stuart Smith has described Samoa and New Zealand as “family” as Prime Minister La’aulialemalietoa Leuatea Schmidt concluded his official visit with a gathering of more than 700 Samoan seasonal workers in Blenheim.
Smith joined La’aulialemalietoa at an ava ceremony on Wednesday morning.
“Samoa and New Zealand are family and today we celebrated our close relationship in Blenheim, home to many RSE workers and a vibrant Samoan community,” Smith said.
“It was my privilege to join with the Honourable Prime Minister of the Independent State of Samoa, Hon. La’aulialemalietoa Leuatea Polataʻivao Fosi Schmidt"
Smith thanked Rev. Peniamina Faalave and the Samoan Consulate for arranging the gathering.
