A hijacked BMW X5 was recovered during a raid on a suspected cash-in-transit robbery gang's safe house in Daveyton.
Gauteng police have recovered seven rifles, a pistol and a hijacked BMW X5 after raiding a suspected cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery gang's safe house in Daveyton on the East Rand.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) said the operation was carried out on Wednesday evening after Gauteng police, working closely with intelligence structures, detectives and the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), tracked a gang believed to be linked to a number of serious and violent crimes committed across the province.
Acting on intelligence, officers raided the Daveyton property, where they also recovered reflector jackets during a search of the premises.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects, who escaped before they could be arrested.
