The Cheroot Malt Bar at Chennai’s ITC Grand Chola lives many lives. By day, it is a polished cigar lounge. Come the weekend, and the room sheds its restraint. The lights dim, the music grows louder, and a younger crowd takes over, turning the space into an unlikely dance floor between walls that, on most evenings, play host to men in well-tailored suits.
It is perhaps fitting, then, that this is where ITC Grand Chola chose to unveil the latest edition of its signature cocktail programme, Cholatails, that draws from Tamil Nadu’s culinary traditions, trade history and everyday food memories.
