Xolani Ngwezi has boosted his chances of being re-appointed to the mayoral position after winning an influential chairperson position of his sub-region.

UMhlathuze Local Municipality Mayor Xolani Ngwezi is set to return to the mayoral position if the IFP retains the municipality following his re-election as the party sub-regional chairperson.

Ngwezi, a former member of Parliament, has been recently re-elected to the influential position at a time when the party is gearing up for local government elections campaigns.

With his election as the chairperson, the campaigns would be led by him and his executive, which if the party wins, will give him more chances to be re-appointed to the second term.

Reacting to his victory on Wednesday, Ngwezi thanked all comrades who have entrusted him with the responsibility to lead the party for a second term.
