The IFP has unveiled three candidates under 45 for key KwaZulu-Natal municipalities, with Mkhuleko Hlengwa contesting eThekwini and Xolani Ngwezi contesting the City of uMhlathuze.

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) has unveiled three candidates for key KwaZulu-Natal municipalities ahead of the 2026 local government elections.

The Deputy Minister of Transport, Mkhuleko Hlengwa, has been named the party’s eThekwini mayoral candidate.

IFP president Velenkosini Hlabisa made the announcement during a briefing on Monday, also naming Sizwe “Mavava” Sikhakhane as the party’s deputy mayoral candidate for eThekwini.

Councillor Xolani Ngwezi was named the IFP’s mayoral candidate for the City of uMhlathuze.
