The Samoa National Provident Fund (SNPF) is investigating alleged financial misappropriation involving two employees.
A source familiar with SNPF’s operations told the Samoa Observer on Wednesday morning that the investigations had “shocked” many staff members.
One employee from the Lending Division was reportedly dismissed after an internal audit allegedly uncovered irregular transactions involving money transferred into multiple bank accounts.
A second employee from the Pension Division is also under investigation over the alleged misappropriation of funds. The investigation reportedly began last year. It is not known whether the two cases are connected.
The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer Lealali Faletoese Asaua has not yet taken up the role.
