Angry contractors have blocked access to the eThekwini Municipality's water department depots amid a dispute with the municipality.
In a statement on Tuesday, the municipality strongly condemned the move.
"These actions have obstructed municipal employees from performing their duties and disrupted the provision of essential water services to residents," the municipality said.
The Mercury reported a few days ago that large parts of the city were left without water after valves were deliberately closed in apparent sabotage. It was reported at the time that the incident was believed to be linked to contractors who were angry after the city changed the manner in which it appointed plumbers.
