The eThekwini Municipality has flagged a poor performing contractor for the delay in the supply, delivery, and off-loading of domestic water meters.
Already grappling with non-revenue water losses, the eThekwini Municipality was found to have eight Water and Sanitation Department contracts performing poorly, according to an assessment.
DA Executive Committee (Exco) member, Councillor Andre Beetge, said these contracts should be awarded to reputable companies.
He suggested this at a council meeting during discussions over external service provider performances.
The municipal report on performance monitoring for quarter 3 of the 2025/26 financial year assessed 521 contracts, with the assessors finding 15 for poor performance, 456 acceptable, and 30 contracts with outstanding performance.
