Each of the 32 NFL teams had gross revenue of more than $450 million for the 2025 season, according to multiple people familiar with the league’s finances who were not authorized to speak publicly. The tally is up roughly 5% from the 2024 season.
The total represents national media rights, league sponsorships, and shared revenue and royalties from the league’s various affiliates and subsidiaries, such as NFL Properties, NFL International and NFL Enterprises. It represents gross revenue before the league’s assessment to run the NFL. The total adds up to about $14.5 billion.
In addition, teams receive an additional payout from the league for shared gate receipts, which calls for 34% of each team’s ticket revenue to go toward a general pool to be shared equally. It represented nearly $30 million per team.
The per-team payout from media and other league deals is more than the combined total of respective league payouts for NBA, NHL and MLB teams. A representative from the NFL did not respond to request to comment.
The NFL is looking for an even bigger slice of the media pie, given the league is potentially re-opening its existing media deals to lock in increases ahead of their 2033 expiration. The 11-year, $125 billion deals with ESPN, Fox, CBS, NBC, Amazon and YouTube include opt-outs in 2029, but the NFL is exploring revamped deals ahead of that.
