A human chain campaign organised by Uyir Trust in association with the district administration, the Coimbatore City Police and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. on Tuesday (July 21, 2026) highlighted motorists about the dangers of using mobile phones while driving.Volunteers formed a human chain between Peelamedu and Nava India on Avinashi Road.Organisers said that the awareness campaign was a part of the Honda Ideal Road Safety Town Project for Coimbatore, which aims to reduce road traffic accidents through sustained road safety education, community participation, and public awareness. Uyir Club volunteers, students of the Department of Social Work and Cyber Security from Hindusthan College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, representatives of Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd., officers of the Coimbatore City Police and members of the public took part in the awareness drive.Volunteers displayed road safety placards, distributed awareness messages, interacted with motorists and urged them to refrain from using mobile phones while driving. They emphasised that a moment’s distraction on roads can lead to irreversible consequences. Addressing volunteers, Uyir Trust apex committee member S.
