The Osun State Police Command has restored normalcy following a clash between rival factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Osogbo on Monday.
The command, in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the violence followed a protest by a faction of the union after its members were allegedly prevented from accessing a motor park by the dominant faction.
According to the command, the protest later degenerated into clashes, disrupting public peace and commercial activities in parts of the state capital.
The statement read, “The Osun State Police Command has express deep concern over the unfortunate incident that occurred today 20th July, 2026; following a protest by a faction of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), in Osun State that their vehicles were not allowed into the garage by the dominant faction which reportedly escalated into clashes involving another faction of the union in Osogbo.”
The command said its personnel responded immediately after receiving distress calls and dispersed the protesters using minimal force to restore order.
