A faction of the National Union of Road Transport Workers led by Kazeem Oyewale, a member of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, on Wednesday took over the state office of the union in Osogbo.
Before Oyewale took over the Osun NURTW state office, Nurudeen Alowonle, a chieftain of the Accord Party, had been running the affairs of the union.
The PUNCH reports that there was tension across motor parks in Osogbo on Monday following clashes between rival factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers during a protest march.
A faction of the transport union led by Oyewale had stormed major streets in Osogbo to protest against the leadership of the Osun NURTW state chairman, Nurudeen Alowonle.
The protesters, accompanied by police operatives, gathered at the Aregbe Motor Park and moved through major streets in the state capital before converging on Old Garage, where they clashed with Alowonle’s faction.
