Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Monday outlined the main priorities of ruling New Democracy ahead of his upcoming address, in September, at the Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), saying the government would focus on practical solutions to citizens’ everyday concerns.
Speaking to New Democracy lawmakers, Mitsotakis said the government should focus on the “wants” of society and on “visible solutions to real problems,” describing the TIF as both “a mirror of the truth” and “a test of credibility.”
“At TIF, we will be clear about our plan for Greece 2030, with immediate measures but also reforms that will deliver gradual results,” the prime minister said, adding that announcements at the fair would focus on supporting the middle class, particularly freelancers and small and medium-sized businesses.
Mitsotakis said the government’s TIF announcements would not amount to “a list of yearly promises,” but rather a roadmap aimed at delivering better prospects in the years ahead.
The prime minister is scheduled to deliver his keynote speech at TIF on September 5. The annual address is traditionally seen as a key policy-setting moment ahead of the coming political period.
