Bristol Myers Squibb is expanding its partnership with Nvidia to boost AI computing power for developing new medicines.
The collaboration centers on what BMS calls its AI Center of Excellence, essentially an “AI factory” built on Nvidia’s DGX SuperPOD infrastructure. It’s been operational since March 2024, and the expansion signals that the initial results were compelling enough to warrant going bigger.
What the AI factory actually does
The AI factory runs self-supervised models trained on hundreds of thousands of clinical trial images. Its primary applications sit in oncology imaging analysis and predictive modeling using clinical data.
The infrastructure is hosted through Equinix, with integration support from Mark III Systems. Greg Meyers, BMS’s EVP and Chief Digital & Technology Officer, has been the key executive driving the initiative.
