A landslide on Kloof Nek Road obstructed the left lane into the city during a Cape Storm.
A HEAVY vehicle lane and compulsory stop along Kloof Nek Road is now in effect, the City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate has advised.
Motorists have been cautioned to comply with the road rules in an attempt to decrease the number of heavy vehicle accidents along the downhill section heading into the city.
"This intervention was presented to the public in September last year when the City of Cape Town asked residents to submit comments on the proposed stop to address the heavy vehicle accidents on Kloof Nek Road in the citybound direction," said mayco member for Urban Mobility, Rob Quintas.
"I want to explain to road users that the righthand lane will accommodate general traffic, while the lefthand lane will be reserved for heavy vehicles only, for approximately 250 metres.
