In all, 4,384 utility poles, 219.2 km of transmission lines and 21 Mescom transformers were damaged from April to date during the pre-monsoon and monsoon showers in Dakshina Kannada, according to the District Disaster Management Authority.In addition, 485 houses were partially damaged, and eight houses were severely damaged during the period. A total of 9.1 km of major district roads were also damaged, the authority said.Meanwhile, the district recorded 28.3 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Sunday, against the normal 38.5 mm for the same period. The maximum rainfall of 52.9 mm was recorded in Kadaba taluk and the minimum of 6.9 mm in Ullal taluk.The district recorded 1,174.9 mm of rainfall so far this year, against the normal 1,929.8 mm for the period from January to July 19.Udupi district recorded 23.3 mm of rainfall in 24 hours.
