Addressing the media, retired Judge Takalani Joseph Raulinga said the Office was created under Section 22A of the National Prosecuting Authority Amendment Act to provide independent judicial oversight of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption.
The Office of the IDAC Oversight Judge has outlined its mandate, complaint procedures and commitment to independent oversight following its recent establishment.
Addressing the media, retired Judge Takalani Joseph Raulinga said the Office was created under Section 22A of the National Prosecuting Authority Amendment Act to provide independent judicial oversight of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC). The Office is intended to strengthen accountability by ensuring investigative powers are exercised lawfully, fairly and transparently.
The Office is mandated to investigate complaints against prosecutors, investigators, deputy directors, seconded officials and other personnel supporting IDAC. It will deal with complaints linked to serious, high-profile or complex corruption, commercial crime and financial crime matters, including those arising from commissions of inquiry, statutory referrals and complaints from members of the public.
