Retired Judge Takalani Raulinga has been appointed to lead the IDAC Ombud Office, which will provide independent oversight and investigate complaints linked to the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption.
The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development has appointed retired Gauteng High Court Judge Takalani Raulinga as the inaugural Ombud of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), with a mandate to investigate complaints of abuse of power, improper conduct and maladministration within the anti-corruption unit.
The announcement follows the official launch of the IDAC Ombud Office by Justice and Constitutional Development Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi at the SALU Building in Pretoria of Friday.
Kubayi said the establishment of the office marked an important step towards strengthening accountability and oversight within South Africa’s anti-corruption framework.
The IDAC Ombud Office was established in terms of Section 22A of the National Prosecuting Authority Act, 1998, as amended by the National Prosecuting Authority Act, 2024. The legislation empowers the Minister, after consultation with the Chief Justice, to appoint the IDAC Ombud.
