AMAZULU president Sandile Zungu launched his campaign to unseat Danny Jordaan as Safa head.
The South African Football Association (SAFA) constitution has been “weaponised” by those in power and must be overhauled to protect the integrity of the organisation, presidential candidate Sandile Zungu has claimed.
Speaking at the launch of his presidential campaign at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg on Saturday, the AmaZulu FC owner accused the current SAFA leadership of using the constitution against regions perceived to support rival factions.
“At the moment it is used as a weapon by those who are in charge, it is not right that on the eve of elections, certain regions are afraid of being dissolved or disbanded simply because they are seen to be aligned with a certain faction,” said Zungu.
The businessman said reviewing the association’s constitution would be one of his key priorities if elected president, arguing that it should serve South African football rather than the interests of those occupying office.
