The Commissioner of Rural Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation, under the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, B. Fauzia Taranum, on Saturday asked officials concerned to expedite the ongoing projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission and ensure their quality.
Speaking at a meeting held to review the progress of projects under the two missions at the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat office, she said the funds released for the projects should be utilised properly and the projects should be completed within the stipulated time. The projects should be inspected frequently by the officials concerned.
The projects should be managed properly, without deterioration. Adequate attention should be paid to the availability of clean drinking water, sanitation, and waste management. Water samples should be collected and tested regularly to ensure that contaminated water is not supplied to the public, she said.
