An elderly woman died after a stabbing in the Kontula district of Helsinki on Saturday. Police arrested a man over the age of 50 shortly after the attack and are investigating the case as suspected homicide.
The incident took place shortly before midday in the Kontulankaari area outside Kontula metro station in eastern Helsinki.
Helsinki Police said emergency medical personnel alerted officers to a violent incident at 11.25am. The victim, a woman aged about 80, died at the scene.
