The detained child rights activist, Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho, has filed a Freedom of Information (FOI) request seeking access to official records relating to the handling of his pending application to transfer his criminal case from the Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State, to another judicial division.
The application, dated July 17, 2026, was submitted to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court by Aghogho's lawyer, Andrew N. Elekeokwuri.
The detained activist requested for the certified true copies of documents and administrative records concerning Charge No. FHC/WR/92C/2022, Federal Republic of Nigeria v. Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho, particularly the processing of a renewed transfer application filed on July 1, 2026.
He stated that the transfer application, which requested that the matter be reassigned to another judge of coordinate jurisdiction outside the Warri Judicial Division, was received and acknowledged by the Office of the Chief Judge on the same day.
