The petitioner stated that nearly one year after filing the complaint, neither he nor his legal representatives had received any communication informing them whether the petition had been investigated, dismissed, upheld, or otherwise resolved.
With a crucial court hearing scheduled for June 30, 2026, child rights advocate, Comrade Ighorhiohwunu Aghogho, has formally requested the National Judicial Council (NJC) to disclose the status, findings, and outcome of a petition he filed against two judicial officers, while also challenging claims that previous correspondence from the Council could not be delivered to his legal representative.
In a letter dated June 13, 2026, addressed to the Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Judicial Council, counsel to the petitioner, Andrew Elekeokwuri, Esq., sought clarification regarding a petition filed on June 17, 2025 against Justice M.I. Sani of the Court of Appeal and Justice Hyeladzira Ajiya Nganjiwa of the Federal High Court, Warri Judicial Division.
According to the letter, the NJC acknowledged receipt of the petition through a correspondence dated July 3, 2025, referenced NJC/F.2/C.A.71/1/88 and signed on behalf of the Chief Justice of Nigeria by the Secretary of the Council, Ahmed Gambo Saleh, Esq.
