A 42-year-old woman was detained in Sofia's Krasna Polyana district during a specialized police operation targeting drug distribution. Police officers found dozens of doses of fentanyl during the action, Sofia police deputy chief Commissioner Stanislava Todorova said.
According to her, the operation is part of a broader series of measures against the spread of fentanyl in the capital. The detained woman had not previously been known to law enforcement authorities. However, the same address had already been linked to drug-related activity, as her brother was arrested there about a month and a half ago, on June 1, and remains in custody on charges of drug distribution.
"Together with the Sofia Directorate, as a result of our actions, a 42-year-old woman, who is not known to the Ministry of Interior, was detained with dozens of doses of fentanyl," Todorova said. She added that the investigation would examine the entire family connected to the property.
Police explained that drug distributors regularly change their methods in an attempt to avoid detection. At the property involved in the operation, illegal structures had been built, including high fences and additional buildings, making access difficult for officers.
