Anti-drug police in Sofia have detained seven individuals during a coordinated operation targeting a suspected narcotics distribution network operating in the Druzhba district, authorities said. The action was carried out by the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDBOP) in cooperation with the National Police under instructions from the Interior Ministry.
According to investigators, the operation led to arrests at two separate locations, where officers also discovered storage sites containing significant quantities of drugs. One depot was located in an apartment and another in a nearby garage, both allegedly used to store and prepare narcotics for distribution.
Deputy head of GDBOP Darin Kostov confirmed the scale of the operation, stating, “So far, seven people from a criminal group involved in drug distribution have been arrested. Two depots were found - one in an apartment and one in a garage. Various types of drugs were seized, including cannabis and synthetic substances. The quantities are large. The individuals were known to each other and operated in Druzhba and surrounding neighborhoods.”
Authorities said the group is suspected of distributing multiple types of narcotics, with cannabis identified as the dominant substance, along with powdered and tablet forms of synthetic drugs. Investigators also noted that some of those detained had prior records, while others were not previously known to law enforcement.
