SACA MVP's Laura Wolvaardt and Aiden Markram were crowned at the Cricket SA Awards on Thursday night.
Proteas Men’s T20I captain Aiden Markram and Proteas Women’s skipper Laura Wolvaardt were the king and queen of the ball at the annual Cricket SA Awards in Sandton on Thursday evening.
Wolvaardt, 27, came within a whisker of a clean sweep on a regal night for South African cricket. She was awarded the prestigious SA Women’s Player of the Year for a record-equalling third time, along with the SA Women’s Players' Player of the Year, Women’s ODI Player of the Year, and Women’s T20 Player of the Year.
The Proteas Women’s team reached a maiden ODI World Cup final under Wolvaardt’s leadership, with the skipper becoming the first woman to score centuries in both the semi-final and final.
The only Women’s awards Wolvaardt missed out on were “The Best Women’s Delivery Fuelled by KFC”, which went to Proteas left-arm spinner Nonkululeko Mlaba, and Kayla Reyneke’s International Newcomer of the Year award.
