The Gauteng Political Killings Task Team has arrested a 35-year-old suspect in connection with the murder of EFF leader Monica Dube.
Sipho Lucky Mahlangu, 34, made a brief appearance in the Cullinan Magistrates' Court, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed.
The Soshanguve resident faces charges of murder and aggravated robbery in connection with the alleged killing of Monica Dube, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Tshwane Region Two secretary and election coordinator.
“It is alleged that during the early hours of June 13, Mahlangu and an accomplice broke into the deceased's residence in Wallmansthal through a window,” said the NPA.
The NPA said: “The two individuals allegedly went into her bedroom, where they shot the deceased in the head in the presence of her children, before stealing her cellphone and fleeing the scene.”
