SASSA officials take decisive action against fraud, dismissing four employees linked to a R33 million social grants scheme.
Agency (SASSA) has dismissed four officials from its Nebo Local Office in Limpopo's Sekhukhune District after an investigation linked them to fraudulent activities involving an estimated R33 million in social grant funds.
The dismissals follow an internal investigation that found the officials had allegedly manipulated the social grants system while working with external syndicates, compromising funds intended for some of the country's most vulnerable beneficiaries.
According to SASSA, disciplinary proceedings were instituted against the officials, resulting in their dismissal. The employees subsequently appealed the sanction, but the Appeals Committee upheld the decision.
The agency said the outcome reflects the seriousness of the misconduct and underscores its commitment to protecting public resources.
