KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli says the newly established Zulu Royal Household Trust Board will look to strengthen governance, secure assets and identify revenue-generating opportunities under KZN’s AmaZulu Monarchy, via a mordernisation plan.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli has unveiled a R93.5 million funding allocation for the AmaZulu Monarchy and Royal Household, positioning the institution as a future driver of economic development, social cohesion and financial sustainability in the province.
Presenting his Budget Vote for the Office of the Premier in the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature on Tuesday, Ntuli said the investment forms part of a broader effort to modernise the monarchy while preserving its cultural heritage and strengthening its governance structures.
According to Ntuli, the vision of a modernised monarchy enjoys the support of King Misuzulu kaZwelithiniand seeks to expand the institution's contribution beyond its traditional role.
"It is our submission, supported by His Majesty the King, that the Zulu Monarchy can play a powerful role in development," Ntuli said.
