The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal has officially begun preparations for the forthcoming local government elections by seeking the blessing of King Misuzulu kaZwelithini during a courtesy visit to eMashobeni Royal Palace.

The delegation was led by ANC KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Task Team (PTT) convenor Michael Mabuyakhulu and included NEC members Thoko Didiza and Bheki Cele, alongside provincial leaders and representatives from the Mzala Nxumalo Region.

According to the ANC, the visit was intended to formally introduce the Provincial Task Team, explain its mandate and seek the King's blessing before embarking on a province-wide election campaign.The party said the engagement reaffirmed its longstanding historical relationship with the Zulu Royal Family and reflected its respect for the institution of traditional leadership.

During the meeting, the ANC told the King it believed it was appropriate to first pay its respects before engaging communities across KwaZulu-Natal as part of its election campaign.
