KZN premier Tham Ntuli says the newly established Zulu Royal Household Trust Board will oversee efforts to strengthen governance, secure assets and identify revenue-generating opportunities under KZN’s AmaZulu Monarchy modernisation plans.
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli has allocated R93.5 million towards the support of the AmaZulu Monarchy and Royal Household, saying the institution can become a stronger contributor to development, social cohesion and economic activity in the province.
Delivering his Budget Vote for the Office of the Premier at the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Legislature on Tuesday, Ntuli said the funding would support the modernisation of the monarchy and strengthen its governance structures.
Ntuli said the modernisation of the Zulu Monarchy was not a new idea, but a shared vision supported by His Majesty the King Misuzulu kaZwelithini.
“It is our submission, supported by His Majesty the King, that the Zulu Monarchy can play a powerful role in development,” Ntuli said.
