Exhumation work has begun in the Volyn region on the territory of the former villages of Ostrivky and Volia Ostrovetska.
Alina Kharlamova, an archaeologist with the specialized institution “Volyn Antiquities,” told a Ukrinform correspondent about this.
“We are beginning the exhumation at the ‘Volia Ostrovetska-1’ site, where a mass grave is located. The area where we will be working has been inspected by bomb disposal experts—no dangerous objects were found,” Kharlamova noted.
On the Ukrainian side, the exhumation work is being carried out by a team from the specialized institution “Volyn Antiquities,” while on the Polish side, it is being conducted by staff from the Institute of National Remembrance of the Republic of Poland and the Medical University of Wrocław. Professional supervision and advisory support are being provided by search operation specialists from the Lviv Regional Council’s “Dolia” municipal enterprise.
