IDAC head Advocate Andrea Johnson during her testimony at the parliamentary inquiry probing allegations of corruption within the criminal justice system.

Madlanga Commission of Inquiry chairperson, retired justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga on Monday remarked that the sick note for Investigative Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head, Advocate Andrea Johnson, delaying her testimony, was one of those "so-called useless medical certificates".

“I notice that this is one of those medical certificates the nature of which I have previously said is useless in the sense that they give no information whatsoever…We are forced in the circumstances to postpone the hearing of Advocate Johnson to a date to be determined,” Madlanga said.

The Commission lost a day of proceedings after Johnson was reportedly sick on Monday when she was expected to testify.

President Cyril Ramaphosa had recently extended the commission’s final report deadline to November 16, 2026, from August 31, and the new evidence deadline to October 2, 2026, to allow the commission to conclude topics discussed during hearings. However, one day has already been lost.
