Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, criticised the medical certificate presented on Advocate Andrea Johnson's behalf for her non-attendance, saying it failed to provide sufficient information to justify postponing her testimony.
The Madlanga Commission's growing frustration with witnesses who fail to appear took centre stage on Monday, as commission chair Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga sharply criticised what he described as a recurring pattern of "useless" medical certificates being submitted to justify last-minute absences.
The latest criticism followed the postponement of testimony by Investigation Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) head Andrea Johnson, who was rushed to hospital while travelling to the hearing and subsequently submitted a medical certificate that the commission found lacking in detail.
"It's one of those useless so-called medical certificates," Madlanga said during proceedings.
IDAC head Andrea Johnson has been rushed to hospital, her lawyers told the Madlanga Commission on Monday.
