A legal practitioner, Gabriel Nkup Tsenyen, has petitioned the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, accusing the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, of using her office to intimidate him in a protracted dispute over a parcel of family land in Plateau State.
In a petition dated June 15, 2026, which SaharaReporters obtained on Monday, Tsenyen urged the Chief Justice to intervene, alleging that he and members of his family had been subjected to intimidation, threats and abuse of state institutions after challenging what he described as the unlawful acquisition of their ancestral land.
The petition, titled "Save My Soul From Oppression And Land Grabbing, By The President Court Of Appeal, Hon. Justice Monica Bolna'an Dongban-Mensem, CFR," was received at the Office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria on June 23, according to the acknowledgment stamp on the document.
Tsenyen, who said he was called to the Nigerian Bar in June 1990, identified himself as a former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Shendam Branch, a former member of the Industrial Arbitration Panel, and the head of the Tsenyen family of Ngotuguut Village in Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State.
