The petition, which was also copied to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Abuja, and the General Council of the Bar, was accompanied by a video of the alleged assault.
A legal practitioner Chibuike Ezemuo Okoro, has petitioned the Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS), also known as the Department of State Services (DSS), over the alleged assault, harassment and obstruction he said he suffered at the Federal High Court in Abuja while attempting to perform his professional duties.
In the petition dated July 2, 2026, and signed by Ikechukwu Obasi of Clear Thought Legal Services (Jideofor Chambers), Okoro demanded an investigation into the officers involved, a public apology, and the payment of ₦500 million as damages for the alleged violation of his fundamental rights and injury to his professional reputation.
