The Embassy of Ireland in Greece organized an official opening concert at the Numismatic Museum of Athens to mark the start the eighteen month “Trio Presidency” of the Council of the European Union by Ireland, Greece and Lithuania on July 1.
The concert took place on July 7 and was a cross-cultural collaboration, connecting and reimagining the musical languages of Ireland and Greece, with a special guest performance by Ross Daly.
“The Irish Presidency will focus on the core priorities of Competitiveness, Values and Security” said Ambassador Ciara O’Floinn during the opening remarks.
“The slogan of the Irish EU Presidency is ‘Ni Neart go cur le Chéile’, which means ‘Strength with Unity’ in the Irish language. Tonight’s concert is a perfect example of coming together to share culture and music and to focus on the values that unite us”.
