Five suspects, aged between 20 and 58, have been arrested in Marapong township, Lephalale, Limpopo, for allegedly impersonating Department of Home Affairs officials and telling a Nigerian businessman he could not operate a business in South Africa.
The incident took place on Wednesday, 9 July, 2026.
Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the owner of a local lounge, a Nigerian national, alleged that a group of community members confronted him at his business and ordered him to close it, claiming that, as a foreign national, he had no right to operate a business in South Africa.
