Muizenberg Park's restored wetland is helping protect critically endangered Cape Lowland Wetland Fynbos while creating a greener space for the community.

The Friends of Muizenberg Park (FOMP) has received a funding boost from the Table Mountain Fund to help continue the restoration of critically endangered Cape Lowland Wetland Fynbos in the park.

The funding will support the final stage of a multi-phase rehabilitation project that is transforming degraded areas of Muizenberg Park into a functioning wetland ecosystem while creating opportunities for environmental education and community involvement.

Project coordinator, John Venn, said the restoration marked an important milestone for the organisation.

Venn said the project is now entering the final stage of its first targeted restoration of a vital ecological area in Muizenberg, rehabilitating critically endangered Cape Lowland Wetland Fynbos within the park.
