Milnerton Lagoon has shown gradual signs of improvement over the past two months, according to City of Cape Town officials, although residents remain cautious about the long-term restoration plans.
Milnerton residents heard that water quality in the Milnerton Lagoon is showing gradual improvement, although concerns remain about the City's long-term plans to restore the waterbody.
The update was presented at a public meeting at Milnerton Library on Wednesday, where City of Cape Town officials outlined ongoing interventions across the Milnerton Lagoon and the wider Diep River Catchment.
Environmental manager, Greg Oelofse, said the lagoon had shown "slow but gradual improvement" over the past two months, which he attributed partly to autumn and early winter rainfall.
"The mouth of the lagoon is definitely functioning better than it had before," he said.
