A 4-year-old child is being treated in a pediatric intensive care unit in Thessaloniki after falling into a swimming pool in northern Greece, local media reported.
According to ERTnews, the child briefly moved out of sight of family members before falling into the pool. Relatives pulled the child from the water unconscious and took the child to Kastoria General Hospital after the child suffered cardiac arrest.
Doctors at the hospital performed prolonged cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and managed to revive the child. The child was intubated and transferred to Thessaloniki for further treatment through a coordinated effort involving the National Emergency Aid Center (EKAB) and local authorities.
The child’s condition is being closely monitored and is described as critical but stable.
