A two-year-old boy who was pulled unconscious from a residential swimming pool in Crete has been airlifted to Germany for specialized medical treatment.
The toddler, who is reportedly German, has been intubated since being found in the pool at a house in Kavros, between Hania and Rethymno, on Saturday morning.
His parents estimated that he had been submerged for about two to three minutes.
Doctors said the child’s survival was aided by the swift actions of his mother, who is a physician. She and the boy’s father pulled him from the water and immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), restoring his breathing before taking him to hospital.
