Rail traffic between Thessaloniki and Litochoro in northern Greece was suspended early Sunday after a wildfire broke out near the tracks, disrupting services and cutting power to the line.
The disruption began at 4:50 a.m., leaving several regional trains stranded at stations in Thessaloniki, Larissa and Litochoro.
Commuter rail services in the Thessaloniki area were also affected, with delays, route changes and replacement bus services.
An intercity train from Thessaloniki to Athens carrying about 200 passengers was to be replaced by buses.
Hellenic Train said it was coordinating with rail infrastructure operator OSE and authorities to restore service.
