The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Anthony Osarobo, has emerged chairman of Ovia South West Local Government after winning Saturday’s local government election.

Osarobo polled 98,994 votes across the council’s 10 wards.

The Returning Officer for the election, Dr Arodoye Nosakhare, announced the result on Saturday at the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission Local Government Collation Centre, declaring Osarobo duly elected after defeating candidates of 11 other political parties.

According to the Returning Officer, the APC candidate scored the highest number of valid votes cast in the election and was therefore returned elected in line with the provisions of the electoral guidelines.

“After the collation of results across different party lines, the APC chairmanship candidate, having scored the majority of valid votes, is hereby returned elected,” Dr Nosakhare declared.
