Thoothukudi MP K. Kanimozhi addresses DISHA meeting on Saturday.

Thoothukudi MP K. Kanimozhi chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting, here on Saturday.During the meeting, Ms. Kanimozhi reviewed the progress of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and the employment initiatives under Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (gramin) (VB-G RAM G) being implemented by Rural Development and Panchayat Raj department.She also reviewed the progress in works of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, which aims to provide all-weather road access to eligible unconnected habitations, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission and Swachh Bharat Mission-Grameen.Ms. Kanimozhi further assessed the progress of “Seermigu Nagara Thittam” of Thoothukudi corporation and Amrut 2.0 being implemented in the municipalities and town panchayats of Thoothukudi district.At the meeting, the MP also scrutinised the details of housing schemes implemented by Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board, schemes for beneficiaries to build their houses themselves with government subsidy and works currently carried out by Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board.In addition, micro irrigation schemes, crop insurance schemes, and schemes being implemented by the Agriculture and Horticulture departments in the district have been reviewed at the meeting.The meeting also included the discussions on measures to improve the road safety under the National Highways department , Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme, Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan implemented by District Differently Abled Welfare Office.Ms. Kanimozhi urged the authorities to expedite the completion of ongoing works for the benefit of the public.Collector Vishu Mahajan, MLAs Anitha Radhakrishnan, G.V.
