The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting was held at the Collectorate on Saturday to review the implementation of various Union government-funded schemes in Mayiladuthurai district.The meeting was chaired by Mayiladuthurai Member of Parliament R. Sudha. District Collector H.S. Srikanth, MLAs N. Jamal Mohammed Yunoos (Mayiladuthurai), Nivedha M. Murugan (Poompuhar), and R. Senthilselvan (Sirkazhi) were present.Officials from various departments, including agriculture, horticulture, rural development, health, school education, municipal administration, drinking water supply, social welfare, electricity, industries, and Adi Dravidar welfare, presented progress reports.The committee reviewed the implementation of schemes such as the National Agriculture Development Programme, Jal Jeevan Mission, Swachh Bharat Mission, National Social Assistance Programme, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, and Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme, besides infrastructure projects related to telecommunication, postal services, railways and highways.Ms. Sudha said the review focused on assessing the extent of implementation of Central and State government schemes in the district, the number of beneficiaries covered, and the progress made in achieving targets under various programmes.She said work at the Mayiladuthurai railway station was under way and the upgraded facilities would be opened to the public only after all basic infrastructure work was completed.
