Shaun Brooks - CameraSportJuly 11, 2026 9:20 am EDT Updated Chelsea’s Alejandro Garnacho has not reported back for pre-season training as he looks to secure a move away from the club.Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United for £40million ($53.6million) last summer but the 22-year-old is now keen to leave Stamford Bridge in order to get regular first-team football.Sources close to Chelsea, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to do so publicly, said the club is only considering selling the Argentina international on a permanent basis rather than sanctioning a loan deal and value him at €50m (£42.5m; $57.1m).The sources added that Chelsea have received interest from clubs in the Premier League, Europe and the Saudi Pro League and are optimistic of completing a deal in the next fortnight. The squad is due to arrive in Australia for the start of their pre-season tour on July 25.New manager Xabi Alonso began pre-season training with the squad on Thursday, but Garnacho has been allowed to stay away while his future is being sorted out.The Athletic reported on July 9 in the Transfer DealSheet that Chelsea were are ready to listen to offers for Garnacho. The winger was left off their ‘not for sale’ list.Garnacho struggled to make an impression in his first season at Chelsea. He started just 22 times in all competitions, 14 of which were in the Premier League. He scored eight goals and provided four assists but failed to establish himself in the starting XI.The winger, who came through Atletico Madrid’s youth academy and scored 26 goals in 144 games for United, has made eight appearances for Argentina. He was named in their 55-man preliminary squad for the World Cup but did not make the final selection.Garnacho admitted in April that he did “some bad things” towards the end of his United career, adding that the manner of his exit hurt.Chelsea have already sanctioned a sale of one of their forwards in this transfer window. Earlier this month, academy graduate Tyrique George completed a move to Everton for an initial fee of £18m, rising £6m if add-ons are triggered. That deal also included a 15 per cent sell-on clause. The club are also finalising a deal for winger Jesse Derry to join Sporting CP on a season-long loan.
