THE acting principal of Seatides Combined School has been suspended during an ongoing forensic audit into financial mismanagement allegations.

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education (DoE) is investigating the school’s finances, with a new interim principal appointed to ensure operations continue smoothly.

The School Governing Body (SGB) chairperson Kerusha Chetty confirmed that acting principal Ruvandhiran Naidoo had been suspended pending the investigation into allegations of financial mismanagement relating to the construction of the school’s hall.

She said the investigation was initiated after three parents raised the alarm when Naidoo allegedly used school funds to build the hall.

Last month concerned parents of Seatides Combined School staged a protest demanding greater financial transparency and accountability from the school’s leadership.
