This is a significant milestone that reflects prudent financial management, accountability and a commitment to ensuring that public resources are managed responsibly in the interests of the people.
The achievement also serves as a strong rebuttal to years of criticism and what we believe were politically motivated attempts to portray the ANC-led department as incapable of managing public finances.
For years, certain individuals, including some within the Government of Provincial Unity (GPU) and the Provincial Treasury, publicly questioned the department's financial management and even suggested that it should be placed under administration.
